If you notice any of these during a consultation, slow down before signing anything.
🚩 Pressure to decide same day
"This price is only good today" is a sales tactic, not a medical statement. No reputable surgeon needs an answer in 24 hours.
🚩 Quote with no itemization
Any practice that can't or won't break down a $25,000 quote into line items is hiding something, or doesn't know their own costs.
🚩 Can't name the implant brand
FDA-cleared implant systems (Straumann, Nobel, Zimmer, Hiossen, etc.) are named brands. If a surgeon is vague about the system, ask why.
🚩 No CBCT in the treatment plan
3D imaging is standard of care for implant planning. If a provider plans to work from panoramic X-rays alone, that's a clinical concern.
🚩 Unusually low all-in price
A full All-on-4 arch below $14,000 almost certainly uses lower-quality components, skips key steps, or has large hidden costs. Get the itemization.
🚩 Consultant does the consultation (not the surgeon)
If you never meet the surgeon until the day of surgery, you can't assess their communication style, competence, or whether you trust them.
